The long winter is almost over! Assuming it's been long, as they usually are in the northeast, but the snow will be melting soon and temps will be warming up. Kids are ready to get out and play in the woods, in the fields, anywhere outside. A great way to get kids outside and active? The Little Bellas Northwest Boston Weekly Program!
The Northwest Boston Weekly Program meets on eight select Sundays at Great Brook Farm State Park throughout the late spring, early summer. Open to all abilities, this program is based around having fun and creates an environment where each girl can make new friends, ride trails, and play games, all while learning the skills for mountain biking. With a 20 miles of flowing trails, ranging from beginner to more advanced, Great Brook Farm is the perfect place to learn new skills and ride sweet terrain. And there are animals to say hi to as there is a working farm on the property!
Each week girls and mentors (we don't coach, we mentor) participate in a variety of activities, trail rides, and games. Through the games and different activities, we focus on having fun, while using these elements to teach and working on basic to more advanced mountain bike skills. This curriculum is designed to promote camaraderie among the girls, progressive skill learning, and perpetuate the love of mountain biking. All while having a great time! This program is for riding and fun and is not focused on competition.
Financial assistance is available if needed and we also have equipment available through our Gear Up program! Please communicate any of these needs when filling out the registration form for the program.

Jenn would consider herself a late bloomer to mountain biking. Tentative at first, her grit and determination fostered from growing up as a merchant marine and horse farmer's daughter, she wouldn't give up on this new sport no matter how many times she "pin-balled" off trees. We've all been there, narrowly avoiding tree facials. But, with the help of some great and very skilled friends, she gained the skills and confidence for riding and never looked back. Races, rides, being a mentor, Jenn is involved in all of it. Things have kind of come full circle, as she puts it. She wants to be a mentor like those friends were to her, helping to build skills, confidence, and the stoke needed for "shredding the gnar"! It's all about finding the bliss that comes from riding bikes and going for it. Getting a smile from a girl saying “I can do that!” Tentative at first? Maybe, but you'd never know it.
