We want program registration to be easy and fair. We are transitioning all programs to a three week pre-registration period. With this new system, everyone will have three weeks to pre-register their participant(s) for Little Bellas. After pre-registration closes, one of two things will happen: a) if the program is full or over capacity, we will use a random selection process to determine who gets in; or b) we will transition to our usual first come first serve registration to fill the remaining slots.
We hope this new process will ease some stress and help create a more fair registration system for all Little Bellas girls and families. See more information on our blog here.
Is there anything better than riding bikes in the long summer evenings? What better way to get out on the trails than with the Little Bellas Johnson City Weekly program.
Meeting at Winged Deer Park, the Johnson City Weekly program is open to girls of all abilities. The program offers eight recurring mountain biking sessions throughout the season and focuses on allowing each girl to learn new skills and build confidence, all in a positive, fun environment. Using both trail riding and specific games both on and off the bike, the girls practice proper riding technique, eat snacks, and make new friends. Existing trails, coupled with a few new trails at Winged Deer Park assures each girl will find terrain just right and challenging enough for her.
Once a week, Tuesdays, over the course of 8 weeks, girls and Mentors (we don't coach, we mentor) will meet and participate in a variety of activities including games and trail riding. Through these games and activities, we focus on having fun, using the different elements of the activity to teach and work on basic to more advanced mountain bike skills. This curriculum is designed to teach the girls skills progressively, and perpetuate the love of mountain biking, all while laughing, giggling, and having a great time! This program is for riding and fun and is not focused on competition.
Financial assistance is available if needed and we also have equipment available through our Gear Up program! Please communicate any of these needs when filling out the registration form for the program.
Johnson City Program Lead
Growing up, Sam began riding bikes once her feet were big enough for shoes. Coming from a family of cyclists she began chasing around her parents and older sister on two wheels through Northeast Ohio. Cycling brought her down south where she was a member of the Brevard College Cycling team and found greater appreciation for the outdoors. Since moving to Johnson City to receive her Masters degree in Mathematics from ETSU, Sam has started teaching mountain biking clinics and coaching for the local NICA league. When she is not on two wheels, Sam can be found fly fishing and hiking with her dog, Dora.
