Program Description

May is Grand Valley Bike Month in Mesa County and we’re joining in on the fun! Springtime riding in the desert while it’s in bloom, combined with the longer days, is a magical time. The only missing ingredient: A group of ladies to ride bikes with!

Our B Older Bellas Grand Junction Weekly Program is designed specifically for beginner women only. This is an opportunity for women to be introduced to the incredible sport of mountain biking, while joining an inclusive and fun group. Each week will include a chance to learn new bike skills, followed by riding local trails as a group.

As your bike skills improve each week, throughout this 4-week series, you will experience both camaraderie and community with your fellow participants. This support will help empower, build confidence, as well as resilience, as you realize that these skills are transferable to life off the bike, as well.

Grand Junction, CO Program Lead

Shannon spent her childhood chasing two older brothers from sport to sport which inspired a lifelong love of PLAY and inspired her to pursue a 15+ year career as a PE & health educator. Her favorite teaching day of the year was of course the annual school-wide bike rodeo (500+ students). Shannon is also a champion for females in sport and believes in the magical power of female role models. She started Girls on the Run in Western Colorado, the Little Bellas Chapter in Park City, Utah and loves to coach womens mountain biking. As a member of the Little Bellas family, she is thrilled to pay it forward to future female generations and empower more girls to ride bikes. When she isn’t riding bicycles, she’s planning her next bike adventure, baking chocolate chip cookies or in search of the next best taco truck.

What to Bring:

• Bike Helmet
• Mountain Bike- In good working order
• Water carrying device- Either a bottle to fit in a cage on the bike or a hydration pack.
• Closed-toed shoes
• Rain gear or extra layers if necessary
