Program Description

It's pretty obvious why people love Boulder.  Amazing weather, amazing scenery, and besides the occasional snow dusting, mountain bike riding all year round.  So many trails, so many options!  Kids are born riding bikes.  And we want to keep them on bikes and riding, all year round and all through life.  There's no better way to do this than the Little Bellas Thursday Mountain Bike Program!

The Thursday Program is an all girls, eight week program, meeting the first four weeks at Tom Watson Park, and the second 4 weeks at Valmont Bike Park.  Open to riders of all abilities, the main focus of each session is having fun!  The program creates a positive, fun environment for girls to learn riding skills and gain confidence through the sport of mountain biking.  Using both trail riding and specific games both on and off the bike, the girls practice proper riding technique, eat snacks, and make new friends, all while experiencing everything these two different locations have to offer.  This program is focused on riding and having fun and not on competition.

The Amy D Sessions, a collaboration between the Amy D Foundation and the Little Bellas, is dedicated to preserving Amy Dombroski's memory and sharing her love of cycling.  We aim to honor our long-time friend by inspiring the next generation to love the sport as Amy did.

Scholarships are available so please communicate any financial help needed by thoroughly answering the questions about her or her equipment needs when registering.

  • What to Bring:• Bike Helmet
    • Mountain Bike- In good working order
    • Water carrying device- Either a bottle to fit in a cage on the bike or a hydration pack.
    • Closed-toed shoes
    • Rain gear or extra layers if necessary
    • Extra tube & inflation device
  • Schedule:1hr to 40 mins- Trail ride in small, age/ability appropriate groups
    15 min- Snack (provided)
    45min- Games and activities (each day of the program has a different and unique curriculum)

Program Lead Contact Information

Kristal grew up in Washington state until about 20 years ago, a powerful force pulled her from this amazing state. The force?  Colorado sunshine.  Once there, she quickly took advantage of everything outdoorsy.  She enjoys skiing, camping with her family, traveling, and cycling.   Especially cycling and all things related to cycling, specifically on dirt! So much dirt, so little time!  Kristal's going to try her best to get out on as much dirt as she can and help others get out on it as well!  She coaches junior cycling teams and being the Little Bellas program Lead in Boulder has made her the coolest Mom ever in the eyes of her daughter! Kristal truly appreciates the connection and impact cycling has allowed her to make with both adults and kids.
