Boston area adds second Little Bellas program: welcome Walpole!
Little Bellas is introducing six (!) new chapters for 2022! More than any other year, these chapters help redefine "mountain biking" in order to get more girls on bikes, read on!
If you can’t come to us, then we’ll go to you – or that’s the idea behind the newest Little Bellas program in the Boston area. Adams Farm in Walpole is a hidden gem that checks all the boxes for getting more girls on bikes but there’s something extra. Easy access from the south and west of Boston should eliminate one of the most common barriers to participating in Little Bellas: getting there. Little Bellas needed to grow because there was so much demand for the existing program that one program for a massive city like Boston wasn't enough. What’s more, the Walpole Little Bellas will get all the knowledge and experience of Lauren Kling, who’s been a group lead mentor in the NW Boston program since 2019.
“I was really interested in stepping into the role to help evolve Little Bellas here,” Lauren said. “The program is incredibly fun – I love it – and I wanted to bring more opportunities to more people through the program, which is oriented around playing games and having a good time.”
Meet Lauren Kling
Not only is Lauren a member of the area’s tightly knit women’s mountain biking scene, she’s also a physical therapist who’s dedicated to improving the lives of children at Perkins School for the Blind. She will bring her unique combination of personal and professional skills and experience to the new Walpole chapter where she will be supported by equally enthusiastic mentors.
Adams Farm in Walpole
According to Lauren, who has intimate knowledge of the area’s abundant mountain biking options, Adams Farm has a nice variety of trails that are fun, “flowy” and not too technical. In other words, it’s the perfect setting for Little Bellas, who will split their time between fun and games on a large, grassy field and some easy trail riding. There’s also plenty of space for other activities (like walking the dog) that parents or guardians can do while Little Bellas is under way at Adams Farm.
