The Little Bellas summer program has officially started. Thirty smiling girls riding mountain bikes with twenty mentors is a beautiful thing. It’s particularly rewarding to have all of the behind the scenes work culminate into more girls having fun riding bikes. Last Sunday marked our second Sunday session. The bellas are settling into their groups, getting used to their mentors, absorbing or perfecting the basics of mountain biking, and starting to come out of their shells. The volume will just get louder and louder from here on out and that is fully encouraged.
The Older Group goes out for their Sunday Ride
The groups were tasked last session to come up with a group name. The nine to ten year olds are named the bloody mud demons. The younger group wanted to be called everything from the cutey cream puffs to the Vermont Cheez its. I tried to name them Corn Pops but they weren’t having it. So, we went with a different method. We came up with five animal names, five food names, and five adjectives and picked at random. This resulted in the Sweaty Orange Dogs which we vetoed. It was then edited to the Orange Pokka dotted Chipmunks.
